Revision of judgment (revizuire) in Romanian civil procedure
Revision is an extraordinary appeal allowing a final judgment to be set aside if new decisive documents emerge, the judgment was based on falsified evidence, or there are contradictory rulings.
Definition
What is revizuire?
Under art. 509-513 NCPC, revision is a retraction-type extraordinary appeal filed before the same court that issued the final judgment. Grounds include: new decisive documents, judgments based on falsified evidence, rulings on matters not requested (ultra/extra petita), contradictory final judgments, or a Constitutional Court ruling on an unconstitutionality exception applied in the case. The deadline is generally 1 month from discovering the ground, with a maximum of 1 year from the judgment. Compare with contestație în anulare, which addresses serious procedural defects.
