What is poprire?
Under art. 781–790 NCPC, garnishment is indirect enforcement against funds held by a third party (bank, employer) on behalf of the debtor. Wage garnishment is legally capped at 1/3 of net income for ordinary debts and 1/2 for maintenance. The enforcement officer sends a garnishment order directly to the third party. The debtor may contest within 15 days. Compare with sechestru asigurător for physical assets.
