Consolidation of cases (conexare) in Romanian civil procedure

Consolidation joins two cases before the same court with the same or closely related subject matter to avoid contradictory rulings. The cases are tried together by the same panel.

Definiţie

What is conexare?

Under art. 139 NCPC, a court may consolidate two or more related cases pending before it. The cases must share the same or closely related subject matter and be at the same procedural stage. The more recently filed case is transferred to the court that received the earlier case. A single judgment is issued for all consolidated cases. Distinct case numbers are maintained. Compare with disjungere, which is the reverse operation.
