What does postponement of ruling mean?
Under art. 396 NCPC, after closing arguments the judge may postpone pronouncement by up to 15 days (renewable once). During this time the court deliberates. The ruling date will appear on the case record.
When does the appeal deadline start?
The 30-day appeal period (art. 468 NCPC) runs from communication of the written judgment, not from the pronouncement date. The written judgment is drafted and communicated separately, often months later.
